The square has a rich heritage of public gatherings and protests but has, in recent times, been dominated by car parking.

Love Architecture's study involves considering various options for re-instating the square as public space, improving connections for pedestrians and cyclists as well as restoring its role as a place to stop and enjoy through seating and soft and hard landscaping.
